Challenges

It is the first base line inspection, compressed air is used to push the pig, leading the difficulty of speed control. In addition, this line is not operated, the working process of launching & receiving is unconventional.

Solutions

1.Adjust the operation pressure to 30 bar and control the PIGPROX running speed to be stationary by controlling downstream vent pressure & flow.
2.Customize special drive cups avoiding suddenly pig velocity change by friction.
3.Apply PIGPROX TR intelligent pig tracking system to gain the pig’s moving information including position, velocity and estimated arriving time etc. in real    time, that is benefit for adjusting working process and pig speed on time.

Outcomes

1.During this project, PIGPROX TR innovative intelligent pig tracking system tracked pig’s moving information accurately, providing effective information for adjusting pipeline working processing.
2.Adjust pig velocity by adjusting parameters of air compressor, verifying the possibility of launching pig by compressed air.
3.Totally 677 internal metal losses were detected. Defect depth is mainly concentrated in the <10%wt and 10%wt< ML<20%wt ranges.
4.Under the high speed running condition (average velocity 10m/s), data outcomes were integrated and had high signal to noise ratio.
5.This inspection is meaningful for this new line operate safely.
